OSU's May Pitcher Of The Week...Beavs Up in Baseball Polls...Last Ducks v Beavs Baseball

MLB:

It was a true pitchers duel last night in Seattle. The Mariners came back to beat Atlanta 2 to1 thanks to DH Mitch Garvers 2 run walk-off homer in the bottom of the 9th. Ms Starter Bryce Miller took a no-hitter into the 7th and got a no-decision. Atlanta’s pitchers took a combined perfect game into the 8th inning. Game 2 is tonight starting at 6:40

The Giants are on the road to start a series with Boston this afternoon. Logan Webb is on the mound for San Francisco. He’s off to a 3 and 1 start with a 2.33 ERA. First pitch against the Red Sox is at 4:10

College Baseball:

Oregon State is up in the rankings this week. D1 baseball dot com has them at 6, and they’re 7th in Perfect Game, The Writers and Coaches polls. Baseball America has them slotted 11th. OSU’s Aiden May is the Pac 12 pitcher of the week…honored for his gem of an outing on Friday where he went 8 innings, allowed no runs, gave up 1 hit and 1 walk, and struck out 14 in the Beavers 2 - 0 win against Oregon in the series opener. He’s also the Baseball America and D1 Baseball dot com pitcher of the week.

Oregon is number 21 in Baseball America

The Ducks and Beavers have a non-conference match-up tonight at PK Park. It is the last scheduled game between the two schools. First pitch is at 6:05.

Now that the dust has settled on the NFL Draft, grades have been handed out for each team’s selections. The Seahawks average out to a B grade, with most experts believing their first two choices of defensive and offensive linemen will be immediate starters.

The 49ers also earned a B grade although with depth at many positions the new rookies’ impact likely won’t be immediately felt.
