Summer Showdown Horse Show

The Summer Showdown horse show will return July 15-21 to the Rim Rock Riders Event Center at Brasada Ranch in Powell Butte. Hosted by the Northwest Reined Cow Horse Association, the Summer Showdown is a major destination for top competitors and their equine athletes. The leading event at this year's Summer Showdown is the Nutrena NW Greatest Horseman competition, where the Northwest’s leading professional horsemen will compete in four events – herd work, similar to cutting; rein work, similar to reining; steer stopping; and fence work, where the horse holds, or boxes, the cow at the end of the arena, then turns it on the fence and finally circles it both ways in the arena.
