CTC presents God of Carnage

From 7:30AM to 10:00PM

“God of Carnage” OPENS September 25 at CTC A playground altercation between eleven-year-old boys brings together two sets of Brooklyn parents for a meeting to resolve the matter. At first, diplomatic niceties are observed, but as the meeting progresses and the rum flows, tensions emerge and the gloves come off, leaving the couples with more than just their liberal principles in tatters. Cascades Theatrical Company presents “God of Carnage” by Yasmin Reza and translated by Christopher Hampton. The show is directed by Brad Thompson, returning to CTC after directing “I’ll Remember You” last season. The cast features A. Lynn Jesus, Brad Thompson, Christine Thompson and Ed Victor. God of Carnage is the first production in CTC's new, Black Box series, which is designed to offer a unique way for Bend theatregoers to experience and participate in a more unconventional style of theatre. A team of talented and dedicated community members chose this season’s selection of plays (personal favorites and passion projects) and are thrilled to see them unfold before an audience! The Black Box productions are different from CTC's Main Stage productions both in tone and content, and promise to entice audiences in new ways! Fantastically written and critically acclaimed, these plays focus on human nature, character interaction, and thought-provoking moral dilemmas with unparalleled artistic merit performed in a spare, Black Box setting. Unlike CTC’s Main Stage productions, The Black Box Series runs for one weekend only! PERFORMANCES AND TICKETS The show runs September 25-28. Performances are Thursday through Saturday nights at 7:30pm and Sunday at 2 pm. Tickets are $15.00 Adult/$12.00 Senior (60 and over)/$12.00 Student. Cascades Theatrical Company, Greenwood Playhouse, 148 NW Greenwood Avenue, Bend, OR 97701 (between Hill and Harriman streets downtown).

HDCM Series: VANCHESTEIN-PARK-VANHAUWAERT TRIO

From 7:30PM to 9:00PM

Opening Night of the High Desert Chamber Music 2014-15 Season features the Vanchestein-Park-Vanhauwaert Trio, making their debut in the HDCM Series this season. This Los Angeles-based clarinet trio (piano, violin, clarinet) was formed after the individual members realized how special it was to combine instruments from three different families into one group. They welcomed the challenge of blending their sounds while bringing out each instrument’s unique timbres. The group is dedicated to performing the standard repertoire for this uncommon combination, but also enjoy exploring lesser known works and pieces by living composers. Program: Milhaud Suite, Menotti Trio, Bartok Contrasts, Stravinsky Suite from “l'Histoire du Soldat”, Piazzolla Primavera Portena, Bizet Fantasy on themes from the opera "Carmen" This evening is brought to you by Mission Building. Join members of the VPV Trio for a pre-concert talk about the program beginning at 6:45pm. This event is free for all ticket holders. Tickets available through HDCM by phone or online. Come hear the music!
