From 7:30AM to 12:15PM

Disabled Employees: Your Rights and Responsibilities Join us Thursday, October 2, 2014 The Riverhouse Hotel & Convention Center 2850 NW Rippling River Court, Bend, OR 97701 Presented by Katherine Tank, of Tank Law, PC 7:30 a.m. Registration check-in 7:45 a.m. Breakfast and Announcements 8:00 a.m. – 12:15 p.m. Presentation The disability discrimination laws have expanded dramatically in the past few years, to the point where potentially anyone can claim a disability. What are your rights and responsibilities as an employer in dealing with disabled employees? This seminar will help you navigate through the disability law minefield, and is highly recommended for supervisors who are the “first to know” about potential disabilities. These topics and more will be covered: •My employee claims she is disabled and needs a work accommodation. What can and should I do? What shouldn’t I do? •My employee came into work today with a back brace and I am concerned. What can I do? •How can I deal with mental illness in the workplace? •Can I require my employee to go to the doctor if I think she suffers from an impairment? •What is a reasonable accommodation and what are my responsibilities in providing an accommodation? •How do the disability laws interact with workers comp and the family medical leave laws? •My employee says she needs to be off work indefinitely for a medical condition. What are my rights? •I want to discipline or possibly fire a disabled employee. What are my rights and what are the risks? •What other job protected absences are available to my employees? These and other questions will be addressed by Katherine Tank, a 26-year veteran labor and employment attorney. This seminar has been approved for 4 (HR (General)) recertification credit hours toward PHR, SPHR and GPHR recertification through the HR Certification Institute. **************************************************************************************************** Pre-registration required Registration: $50 per person Registration deadline September 29, 201448 hour cancellation required for refund Absent registrants will be billed NOW AVAILABLE - Pay securely by credit card using Eventbrite: CLICK HERE Make check payable and send to: Oregon Employer Council Central Oregon PO Box 778 Bend, OR 97709
