Kitzhaber has declared the fire about six miles west of the Dalles, a conflagration.

This allows the State Fire Marshal to mobilize firefighters and equipment to help assist.

The Governor traveled to southern Oregon Wednesday morning to get an update on the Beaver Complex fires.

"I think it's important to point out these fires are a symptom.  There is a bigger issue.  We have to deal with the root cause.  There is no way we should be dealing with this year after year.  We have to do a better job of managing the forests and putting Oregonians back to work.  So we can clean up the forests and reduce the fire risk."

The fire burning near Ashland that the Governor visited is 100 percent lined and 35 percent contained.  It has burned more than 36-thousand acres.
