Madras Man Arrested After Crash

MADRAS, OR -- A Madras man allegedly led Jefferson County deputies on a high speed chase, late Saturday night. According to the Sheriff's office, Forest Ortiz took off in his pickup after a deputy tried to pull him over for a traffic violation in Madras.

 

A search and rescue pilot was able to track the suspect from the air, and saw him crash near Crestview and South Adams. The 24-year-old then took off on foot, but the pilot was able to direct deputies and OSP Troopers to his location.
 
Ortiz was tased for allegedly resisting arrest, and was eventually taken into custody on a number of charges, including being a felon in possession of a firearm and a probation violation.
