DCSO Lieutenant Placed On Admin Leave

BEND, OR -- Another Deschutes County Sheriff’s Department employee is on administrative leave, following allegations of misconduct. Lt. Robert Trono was placed on leave Friday, after new information was discovered during an ongoing internal investigation.

According to a statement from Sheriff Shane Nelson, the ATF investigated complaints that Trono was not licensed to build a firearm for a co-worker while off-duty. The ATF advised in June it was not a prosecutable offense and did not open a case.

Sheriff Nelson says the internal investigation is ongoing and did not elaborate on the new information that led to Trono’s administrative leave. This is the fourth commander to be placed on leave in the past year.
