Grizzly Mountain Fire Holds At 200 Acres

PRINEVILLE, OR -- A wildfire broke out on Grizzly Mountain, Monday afternoon, prompting evacuations of about a dozen homes northwest of Prineville. Initially reported at about 2 p.m. near Grizzly Mountain Road, the blaze quickly grew from 15 to more than 200 acres.

Firefighters made progress on containing the fire by Monday night, and evacuation orders were lifted. No homes were damaged. An incident management team took command of the fire Tuesday morning and additional crews held it at 200 acres. They say winds died down Monday night, allowing them to make good progress on containment.

Officials say the fire is human caused and remains under investigation.
