Minor Injuries, Fire Caused by Thursday Crash

TUMALO, OR -- Cline Falls Highway was closed for about an hour late Thursday morning, after a crash and resulting fire, south of Innes Market Road. The two women in the SUV escaped with only minor injuries.

According to the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office, the women were towing gravel in a utility trailer when the driver lost control at about 10:30 a.m. Investigators believe the weight of the trailer pushed the SUV down a 20-foot embankment and into a juniper tree. The front of the vehicle caught fire, charring several trees.

Both people got themselves out of the vehicle and were evaluated at the scene by medics while Bend firefighters extinguished the blaze.
