MITCHELL, OR -- A Deschutes County Sheriff's Deputy was killed in an off-duty crash, Monday.
According to Oregon State Police, 48-year-old Christopher Jones, of Madras, was riding his motorcycle northbound on Highway 207, Monday evening. At about 7:30 p.m., his Harley Davidson crashed when it left the road on a corner, near milepost 18, north of Mitchell. Jones sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
A long precession of emergency vehicles from across the region escorted his body to Bend, Tuesday morning (pictured above). Jones was a 12-year veteran of DCSO and leaves behind a wife and two boys. A GoFundMe page is collecting donations to help his family with anticipated expenses.
