REDMOND, OR -- Redmond is seeing a jump in the construction of market rate apartments. Mayor George Endicott says construction of 135 units is underway and another development of nearly 200 is planned for an area near Safeway. Endicott says the new apartment projects should help ease the shortage of housing in Central Oregon. Endicott says affordable housing units are also planned in Redmond by the group Housing Works. He says increasing the number of market rate apartments could help stabilize rents.
