REDMOND, OR -- Ground was broken Monday for 91 new affordable housing units in Redmond and Madras. The units are expected to open in about a year. The units were financed with a state loan, affordable housing tax credits, a bond and a conventional bank loan. The housing will accommodate low income families. Housing Works will take applications from families who meet low income guidelines about a month before the units are finished and then hold a lottery-type drawing to determine which families will move in.
