Office Space Not In High Demand

BEND, OR -- There is not a lot of new office space being built in Central Oregon these days. Pat Kesgard at Compass Commercial Real Estate says it may be due to a growing number of work-at-home jobs. For example, he says, if you call Alaska Airlines you are likely speaking to someone working from home. Kesgard says the vacancy rate for office space is up to 3-point-9-per cent in this area. He says California wildfires however, may force some office based businesses to think about relocating out of state and Central Oregon could become a destination.
