Lawmakers In Salem For Legislative Days

SALEM, OR -- State lawmakers are in Salem this week for Legislative Days in preparation for the session in February. State Senator Tim Knopp says his priorities for bills he’d like to get passed include getting a new judge in Deschutes county and providing low income seniors with property tax relief. Knopp says he thinks the state senate will work on a technical fix to the death penalty bill because it retroactively covers old death penalty cases. Supporters of the bill said it was not retroactive but the Oregon Department of Justice said some months ago, it is retroactive.
