LA PINE, OR -- A man who tried to help a woman who was being assaulted was shot early Sunday morning. Police say 43 year old Cheyenne Wilson of Marcola and a woman left a tavern in La Pine and he allegedly began assaulting the woman, who yelled for help. 37 year old Jonathon James Arnold was outside of his home and heard the woman yelling. He contacted her to check on her condition. Police say Wilson approached Arnold and pulled a handgun. Arnold tried to leave the area but Wilson fired a shot hitting him in the buttock. Arnold ran to the tavern where police were called. He was taken to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The woman received minor injuries. Wilson is jailed on charges of Assault, Unlawful Use of a Weapon, Menacing and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm.  Police believe alcohol is a factor in this case.
