BEND, OR -- On June 25^th, President Trump signed the Blue Water Navy Vietnam Veterans Act which takes effect January 1st. Deschutes County Veterans Service Officer Carrie Lucas says this is something many veterans have waited for, for decades. She says, "Navy veterans who served less than 12 nautical miles off the coast of Vietnam between January 1962 and May 1975 can file disability claims with the VA." Lucas says any Navy Blue Water veterans who already filed for Agent Orange disability between September 1985 until now, need to re-file the claim. She says veterans should contact the Deschutes County Veterans Service office for help.
