BEND, OR -- Applications are being taken for the Bend Police Department Community Academy which meets in the Spring. The class meets once a week for nine weeks and educate citizens about how the department carries out its mission. Topics include Narcotics, Traffic, SWAT, K9’s and Officer Survival. Students who graduate become eligible to become Bend Police Department Volunteers. This year the Community Academy is from March 31^st to May 26^th. The Tuesday classes are from 6-to-9 p.m. Applications are available at the Bend Police Department.
