REDMOND, OR -- A 31-year old Redmond man died Sunday after falling from a Land Kiteboard at the Deschutes County Fairgrounds. Zackary Hannan had been Kiteboarding for about a year. He strapped himself in the kite about 11-Sunday morning when an unexpected gust of wind lifted him and the kite about 30 feet in the air. Hannan had not yet put on his helmet and when he fell, his head hit the asphalt. He was taken to Saint Charles Bend where he underwent several hours of surgery before dying.
