Two Survivors of an Oregon Avalanche Remain Hospitalized

After they were rescued on Wednesday, they were flown to a hospital in Walla Walla, Washington.

The man and woman who survived the avalanche suffered several broken bones.  No further information is available on their conditions.

They were part of a group of six experienced skiers from Washington state, being lead by two guides through the back country of the Wallowa Whitman National Forest when the avalanche hit.

Two skiers died in the avalanche and their bodies remain on the mountain.  They are no plans to retrieve the bodies right now because the risk of another avalanche is too high.
