Latest on Possible Appeals on the Judge's Ruling Allowing Same Sex Marriages in Oregon

Lewis and Clark Law Professor Erin Ryan says the options for appeals are still unclear.

The Court of Appeals denied the stay to stop the decision Monday, but Professor Ryan isn't sure that means the National Organization for Marriage can't appeal at all.

"And I think they definiteily ruled they will not stay the decision, but it's possible the 9th Cirucit could allow NOM to appeal the decision by Judge McShane to not allow them to intervene."

Oregon, unlike other states that have overturned gay marriage bans, does not have a group that has the immediate standing to appeal the decision.
