(Leavenworth, WA) -- Authorities say the Chiwaukum Creek fire in Chelan County, Washington has scorched about 66-hundred acres. Nearly 900 homes in the region are under a Level Three evacuation order, as low humidity and high winds continue to fuel the fire. State officials say air quality has deteriorated to "unhealthy" in Leavenworth and Wenatchee because of heavy smoke and ash. U.S. Highway 2 remains closed between Leavenworth and Coles Corner, and the plume of smoke rising from the area can be seen as far away as Tacoma and Seattle.
