(Portland, OR) -- A man who was shot by a police officer after he reportedly pointed a replica handgun at passing vehicles on I-84 is undergoing a mental evaluation. Police say Denorris Laron McClendon was high on methamphetamine at the time he was shot Monday. Authorities say McClendon had been suffering a paranoid delusion the day before, and had broken both of his arms last week and removed the casts himself. McClendon was arraigned yesterday, but the evaluation is being conducted before a decision is made on whether to set bail.
