(Lewis County, WA) -- A Portland man is seriously injured after a failed base-jumping attempt on Tower Rock in Lewis County, Washington. Officials say the 38-year-old man was seen yesterday, jumping and hitting the rock wall several times before his parachute fully opened. Rescue personnel hiked about a mile from the road to reach the man, who was airlifted by Navy helicopter to a Seattle hospital. He's being treated for broken bones in his legs.
