Entry Fee Increase Possible For National Parks

(Washington, DC)  --  Entry fees at Mount Rainier and Olympic national parks could rise considerably.  The National Parks Service is proposing raising entry fees by 67 percent at 131 parks nationwide.  Mount Rainier National Park acting superintendent Tracy Swartout tells the Tacoma "News Tribune" that the entry fee would rise from 15 dollars to 25 dollars per car, and an annual pass would increase from 30 dollars to 50.  Officials say the fee increase would allow parks to improve visitor facilities and services.
