Audit: Portland Data Security Out Of Compliance With Standard

(Portland, OR)  --   A new audit report says the City of Portland hasn't been compliant with the industry standard on data security for debit- and credit-card payments.  The audit says the city has been non-compliant for five years, which could put consumers' sensitive information at risk of being stolen.  The audit cites city services that are paid for with a debit and credit, card including taxes, license fees, inspection and permit fees, parks and recreation programs, water and sewer bills, parking garages, and parking meters.  City officials say steps will be taken to meet the Payment Card Industry compliance standards.
