Happy Valley Police Tax Measure Defeated

(Happy Valley, OR)  --  Happy Valley could lose its police department.  Voters have narrowly defeated a tax measure that would have guaranteed funding for the town's police force for five years.  Under the measure, a property tax of a dollar-65 per one-thousand dollars of assessed value would have been implemented to fund police services provided on a contract basis by the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office.  Officials say they'll likely have a similar measure on the ballot in May.
