(Portland, OR) -- A Portland lawyer is a national hero after an act of kindness. Colin Murphy, a civil attorney, gave a Portland man nine-hundred-83 dollars to keep him from becoming a felon. Murphy didn't know the man, but overheard the details of his case while waiting in a courtroom. Castor Conley had pled guilty to a felony for selling a stolen truck. The district attorney offered a plea deal dropping the charge to a misdemeanor if Conley paid restitution. When Conley showed up to court without the money, Murphy stepped up and offered to pay.
