(St. Helens, OR) -- Authorities say a 14-year-old girl and her family helped police apprehend a suspected Internet predator. The suspect, 26-year-old MD Shahidul Islam of Beaverton was arrested Saturday after an officer arranged a meeting with him at a Walmart store in St. Helens. Police say Islam had carried on an online relationship with the 14-year-old for several months and the teen's father became involved when the relationship turned sexual in nature. Islam is facing several charges, including online sexual corruption of a child in the first degree and attempted rape in the third degree.
