(Colton, OR) -- A Colton man who was shot to death by Clackamas County sheriff's deputies is ruled to have committed suicide. The Oregon State Medical Examiner's Office says 34-year-old Bruce Steward orchestrated the Sunday incident that led to his shooting by refusing to drop a hatchet while approaching the responding deputies. Authorities say the deputies were dispatched to a home on South Wall Street in Colton after a report of a stabbing. No stabbing victim was ever found.
