Gladstone Police Chief Retires Earlier Than Planned

(Gladstone, OR)  --  Gladstone Police Chief Jim Pryde is stepping down earlier than planned, in what's being called a "mutual decision" between him and the city.  Pryde was set to retire in July, but he told "The Oregonian" that the city made him an offer he "couldn't refuse," which includes a severance package.  Gladstone City Administrator Peter Boyce says Pryde's departure will enable the city to get an early start on the transition.  Sergeant Lee Jundt will be interim chief through the end of March, and Lieutenant Jeff Bailey will take over April 1st and remain in place until the city hires a permanent chief.
