Council Gives Tentative Approval To Demolish Reservoirs

(Portland, OR)  --  A proposal by the Portland Water Bureau to demolish the two open reservoirs in Washington Park appears to be moving forward.  The Portland City Council gave tentative approval to the plan yesterday.  The vote came after demonstrators protested against the plan, many of whom saying it's too expensive.  The plan calls for the demolition of the reservoirs and construction of underground storage for water, at an estimated cost of 67-million dollars.
