(Portland, OR)  --  A man is being hospitalized after being shot by a Portland police officer.  Authorities say the man, who was reported to be seen yesterday cutting himself with a knife in Southeast Portland, had broken into a house on Southeast Boise Street while two kids and their mother were inside.  Officials say as police helped the residents get out of the house, the suspect abruptly left the home and began charging at officers.  Police say the man was shot after attempts to use non-lethal bean bag rounds were unsuccessful.
