Senate Committee Approves Damascus Disincorporation Legislation

(Salem, OR)  --  Bills aimed at allowing for a vote on the proposed disincorporation of Damascus are advancing in the Oregon Legislature.  The "Portland Tribune" reports the Senate Rules Committee approved three measures, one of which sets May 17th, 2016 for a special election to allow voters to decide whether to disincorporate.  Another bill would allow a landowner to withdraw a tract if the city council decides there's no undue burden to the city.  The third measure would distribute the remaining assets of the city if voters decide to disincorporate.
