Seventeen-year-old Drowns In Santiam Tributary

(Salem, OR)  --  Marion County sheriff's deputies say a 17-year-old boy drowned in a tributary of the Santiam River.  Authorities say the teen went under water and didn't resurface while swimming around 2:40 yesterday afternoon at Salmon Falls Park east of Salem.  The boy was pulled from the water by witnesses, who began CPR.  He was later pronounced dead at a hospital.
