(Washington, DC) -- The federal Food and Drug Administration is expanding its recall of celery that was the source of an E. coli recall linked to Costco stores in a number of Western states. The recall now covers more than a dozen states and includes products sold at chains including Walmart, Target, Sam's Club, Safeway, Albertsons and 7-Eleven. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said 19 people in seven states, including Washington, were infected after eating chicken salad made with celery produced by Taylor Farms of California. The expanded recall includes 155-thousand items such as salad kits, vegetable trays and other prepared foods.
