Inslee Vetoes Major Parts Of Bill To Reform Psychiatric Hospital

(Olympia, WA)  --  A bill aiming to accomplish reforms at Washington's largest psychiatric hospital looks different than when it was recently passed by the Legislature.  Governor Jay Inslee has vetoed several sections of the measure, including a provision to allow psychiatric nurses with advanced degrees to fill open psychiatrist positions at Western State Hospital in Lakewood.  "The Olympian" reports the governor also vetoed a section that would have used financial incentives to attempt to decrease the use of state-run psychiatric facilities.  Inslee says he wants a review of the hospitals' structure and financing by an outside consultant before deciding on those issues.
