Intel To Lay Off 12,000 Worldwide

(Santa Clara, CA)  --  A decline in the personal computer market is the primary driving force behind Intel's planned layoff of 12-thousand employees worldwide.  The restructuring means the technology company will shed eleven percent of its global workforce.  "The Oregonian" reports Intel is Oregon's largest private employer, with more than 19-thousand people working at the company's Washington County campuses.  Intel laid off ten-thousand employees during a restructuring in 2006.
