Hales: Portland Needs New Revenue

(Portland, OR)  --  Portland Mayor Charlie Hales says the city needs to generate new revenue in order to pay for vital services, including an adequately staffed police bureau.  Portland Police Association president officer Daryl Turner tells KOIN-TV that 23 officers have recently retired and six have sought employment outside the bureau.  Turner says gang-related violence in Portland has increased this year from 2015, which was a record year.  He says the Police Bureau is experiencing its lowest staffing levels since at least 1993.
