Marshman Sworn In As Portland's New Police Chief

(Portland, OR)  --  Portland Police Bureau Captain Michael Marshman is the city's new chief of police, after Mayor Charlie Hales announced the retirement of Chief Larry O'Dea [[ oh-DAY ]].  O'Dea was placed on administrative leave as he became the subject of investigations into the shooting of his friend on a hunting trip in April.  Hales says he's disappointed by what he calls a "trial by media" and is asking the public to reserve judgment until the Oregon State Police and the State Department of Justice complete their investigations.  Marshman took the oath of office yesterday.
