(Helvetia, OR)  --  Washington County authorities are investigating a crash that left a Portland man dead.  Deputies say 46-year-old Christopher Smith struck a ditch along Northwest Phillips Road in the community of Helvetia late Wednesday night.  Officials say Smith was ejected from the car as it rolled, and he died at the scene.  Authorities say excessive speed seems to have been the cause of the crash.
