Deal: 30K Washington State Workers To Get Raises

(Olympia, WA)  --  Under a deal tentatively struck between union leaders and state officials, about 30-thousand Washington state employees would receive pay raises of about six percent.  Washington Federation of State Employees spokesman Tim Welch tells the "News Tribune" the raises would be spread over two years.  The proposed contract would also set a 12-dollar minimum wage for the general government workers.  Union members will vote by October 1st on whether to ratify the contract.
