(Salem, OR) -- An Albany man will spend at least two-and-a-half decades in prison after being convicted of murdering his girlfriend's three-year-old daughter and assaulting the girl's five-year-old sibling. David Gene Elliott was sentenced yesterday in Salem to life with the possibility of parole in 25 years. Elliott pleaded guilty to causing the death of the three-year-old, who was found, face-down, in a bathtub in April 2013. The children's mother, Mercedes Alvarado, was sentenced this summer to a ten-year sentence for manslaughter in the case.
