(Kelso, WA) -- Authorities say two men are in custody, following a chase involving a sheriff's deputy and a stolen pickup truck. Officials say a Cowlitz County deputy was in pursuit yesterday of the southbound pickup in the northbound lanes of Interstate 5 near Kelso after the pickup's tires were blown out. Deputies say the driver of the suspect vehicle tried to ram a sergeant's patrol car, but the sergeant was able to avoid the pickup but later was slightly injured in a subsequent crash when his airbag deployed. Authorities say the driver and his passenger were arrested after deputies used a pit maneuver to stop the pickup, which had been stolen in the Seattle area.
