(St. Helens, OR) -- Three people are under indictment in connection with the murder of Apache Hightower, a Portland mother of three. Jesse Allen Lane was extradited back to Oregon after being arrested earlier this month in Santa Barbara, California. Authorities say Lane and Charles Vernon are accused of strangling Hightower last month after she was abducted and beaten because they wanted to prevent her from being a witness in a criminal case. Twenty-year-old Stephanie Toney is accused of collaborating with Vernon and Lane to hide evidence and avoid arrest.
