(Tacoma, WA) -- Support continues to flow for the Tacoma Police Department after one of its officers was killed in the line of duty. Officer Reginald "Jake" Gutierrez died at a hospital Wednesday night after he was shot several times while responding to a domestic-disturbance call at a home on East 52nd Street. An ensuing standoff that lasted for hours ended around 3:30 yesterday morning when the suspect, 38-year-old Bruce Randall Johnson, was shot to death by a SWAT officer. Two children who were in the house, ages six and eight, were not injured, but police say Johnson had used them as human shields during the standoff.
