Multnomah County Jail Faces Overcrowding

(Portland, OR)  --  Multnomah County is struggling with overcrowding at their jail.  Authorities say the Multnomah County Jail has already reached 95-percent capacity four times this month and has remained at a steady 90-percent for the rest of the month.  The county is asking police to try to cite and release suspects rather than arrest them whenever possible to cut back on the overcrowding.  The county is also set to start reviewing inmate case histories to determine if any of their inmates can be set free.
