City Council Eliminates 48-Hour Rule

(Portland, OR)  --  Portland is doing away with the controversial so-called 48-hour rule involving officer-related shootings.  City councilmembers voted unanimously yesterday to get rid of the rule, which blocked investigators from interviewing police officers involved in a deadly force incident for two days.  Police officers involved in a deadly force incident will now have to report to internal affairs investigators immediately following the incident.
