Coast Guard Fines Man For Jumping From Tour Boat

(Portland, OR)  --  A man is facing a five-thousand-dollar fine for jumping into the Willamette River from a tour boat.  The Coast Guard issued the fine Tuesday for the incident on August 13th.  Authorities say the man removed his shoes and then swan dived over the railing of the tour boat into the water.  Federal law prohibits the act of intentionally jumping overboard from a passenger vessel because it interferes with the safe operation of the vessel.
