Richardson: Russia Tried, Failed To Hack OR Elections

(Salem, OR)  --  Oregon's Secretary of State says Russia tried to hack the state's election system last year.  Dennis Richardson says the efforts failed because of security measures installed in Oregon's electoral computer network.  A press release from Chief Information Security Officer Lisa Vasa got more specific.  She writes that her office blocks some 14-million attempts at hacking every day.  She says most of the futile attempts come from inside the U.S., but some come from Russia and other countries.  Richardson said Friday that Homeland Security has confirmed his June claim that Russian hackers tried to get into Oregon's election computers.
