OR Lawmaker Calls For Gun Control After Vegas Violence

(Salem, OR)  --  Oregon Congressman Earl Blumenauer is calling for stricter gun legislation.  The Democrat's plea came just hours after the deadliest mass shooting in U.S. history, this time on the Las Vegas Strip.  The Portland Representative says GOP contentions that nothing could have stopped the shootings are "just wrong."  Blumenauer wants to revive his 2015 plan for reducing gun violence, which is rooted in background checks for prospective buyers.  He laments that his easy solutions to gun violence have never been considered by the Republican-led Congress.  He says "thoughts and prayers" will not stop future tragedy, and he calls on Congress to have the "courage to act."
